Join your pals at Novel every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. for A Novel Book Club. Our monthly picks will encompass a wide variety of genres, interests, and reading styles, with book club members involved in choosing future selections. Unlike a lot of book clubs that are spawned from a group of friends, we are a group of friends spawned from a book club. We really hope to see you at the next meeting!

About Cold Comfort Farm:

Winner of the 1933 Femina Vie Heureuse Prize, Cold Comfort Farm, a wickedly funny portrait of British rural life in the 1930s. Flora Poste, a recently orphaned socialite, moves in with her country relatives, the gloomy Starkadders of Cold Comfort Farm, and becomes enmeshed in a web of violent emotions, despair, and scheming, until Flora manages to set things right.

About the author:

Stella Dorothea Gibbons (5 January 1902 – 19 December 1989) was an English author, journalist, and poet. She established her reputation with her first novel, Cold Comfort Farm (1932) which has been reprinted many times. Although she was active as a writer for half a century, none of her later 22 novels or other literary works—which included a sequel to Cold Comfort Farm—achieved the same critical or popular success. Much of her work was long out of print before a modest revival in the 21st century.
